Journey to the world of Kalbreth
Realms Quest LARP
Glynnden stood at the bow of the Aerny merchant vessel, watching the ports of the city of Torel grow ever closer, paying no attention to the cold sea spray washing over his face, or the screaming gulls following along the ship. The Elf touched the left side of his head where his pointed ear used to sit. It had been two months since Glynnden had escaped the horrors of the Diablos, but now he was free.
Realms Quest LARP is an interactive role playing experience where players can create the characters of their dreams. It is the brainchild of Ken Barton, a former full contact jouster with the Knights of Valour, who began Realms Quest in 1994. Over the years Realms Quest has gone through many different iterations before becoming the family-friendly game it is today.

The game is presently played on a working horse farm located in Janetville, Ontario, Canada. The wandering horses add an authentic feel to the fantasy aesthetic of Realms Quest, but don’t be fooled, the horses are not for riding. While players have access to the entire field and forest, much of the game play takes place in our own corner of the property that boasts a tavern/inn, multiple buildings for player use, and enough room for players to pitch their tents. And should we get really adventurous, on the other side of the field we have a pirate ship. Other areas of interest on our site includes a graveyard— don’t worry, it’s just for game; a faerie grove; a Yorc (Yorellian/Orc half species) campground that, in days gone by, was a built up viking village; and the River of Light, which is also our swimming hole. The game usually runs from Friday evening until Sunday at mid-day and costs $50 for the entire weekend. We also offer a meal plan for our players and guests, however, for those who wish to cook their own meals, the BBQ and cooking over the fire is free to use.

The road to the Outpost was long and full of danger, but after two weeks Glynnden finally made it to his new home. He had heard from the locals of Torel that the Outpost was a place of opportunity; a place where someone looking to get lost could make a fresh start on life.
Players begin the game in Talidas, one of three continents on the world of Kalbreth, where all species eventually meet, in The Outpost, a small border town protecting the civilized kingdom of Varnelle from the wild, untamed lands of Nimbral.
There are seven unique kingdoms on Talidas: Trilar is home to the Elven kingdoms; Varnelle where chivalry rules; Paet is home to sorcery and spiritualism; Babel, the kingdom of the Dwarves; Lucendia is known for its artistry and equestrians; Kreearch is ruled by the strong; and Nimbral, also known as the Wilderlands, where evil lurks. Each kingdom, with the exception of Nimbral, boasts a minimum of four main cities, each with their own unique qualities.

The other two continents, Draconis and Spanarch, are just as unique as Talidas, and is home to their own unique species and histories.
Players are encouraged to use Realms Quest’s immense world to develop a backstory for their character that is as unique as they are themselves
Glynnden found a group of Dwarves that were offloading barrels of ale from a carriage. They pointed him to the only tavern in town, The Bloody Crow’s Nest. The Outpost was bustling. On his way Glynnden past an Arocca Wisebeak hurriedly walking down the sidewalk with a myriad of books in her feathery arms; a Halfling was selling something from his stall that smelled like a warm memory of mom’s cooking; and a couple of local guards, including one that looked like a Golden Dragon, chased a Half-Orc teenager down the street. For the first time in a long time Glynnden felt alive.
Do you fancy yourself a sophisticated Elf who conjures ancient magic to fell your enemies from across the battlefield? Or perhaps you see yourself as a brutish Dwarf who spends their days cracking Orc skulls, and your nights guzzling cheap ale at the tavern?

Whatever your preference, Realms Quest can help you live out your wildest fantasies. We offer 16 different species along with various sub-species options to choose from. And if you’re feeling particularly feisty, our logistics team can help you come up with a half-species, combining both the strengths and weaknesses of two species for something completely different
“Huzzah!” Sitting in the Bloody Crow’s Nest and surrounded by comrades, Glynnden raised his mug of ale in celebration of his one year of service with the Outpost’s defence force. It had been a long road, but Glynnden had become an accomplished fighter and protector of the Outpost, as well as a spiritual leader and healer for his squad. The Gold Dragon Alderys, leader of the Dragon Clan, sat alone in a dark corner of the tavern and stared at the Elf he took a chance on, knowing the Outpost was in good hands.
Realms Quest’s classless system allows players to customize their characters in unbelievable and unique ways. The only limit is your imagination…and experience points.
Players begin by picking their title, generalist, mage, priest, rogue, or warrior, which determines the main focus of their character and experience point discounts. After that, players can purchase almost any skills they like to round out their characters. Fancy yourself a rogue who augments their abilities with magic? Done! Want to be a battle-mage who wades through the battlefield clad in full plate armour while slinging spells at your enemies? Go for it! Do you picture yourself as a big, burly Dwarf who fights in the gladiator pits by night and knits clothing for the local orphans by day? You do you!

If you can’t find what you want for your character in our rule book or in one of our handbooks, then feel free to discuss with our team what you have in mind. We’re always happy to help our players’ dreams become reality.
The smell of the fresh produce in the market put a smile on Glynnden’s face. His new wife would appreciate the fresh selection for their dinner tonight. Smile turned to grimace from the sudden pain in Glynnden’s side. Looking down Glynnden recognized the hilt on the knife sticking out of his side as being Diablos. The eyes of the would-be assassin glowed red from under the black hood; he sneered, flashing his red lips as he twisted the knife.
Through the use of player backstories, and years of experience writing plot for various LARPs and RPGs, our head of plot creates an unparalleled story experience that brings all players together while adding unique Easter eggs for each individual player. And scattered throughout the site, players can find various side quests they can choose to partake in. Should the little ones want to seek adventure, we have modules for them too.
Wasting no time, the Dragon Clan jumped into action to save one of their own. Boatswain, everyone’s favourite tavern keeper, leaped at the Diablos assassin with almost supernatural speed, knocking the demon-kin to the ground; Bythorn of Gond jumped on the devil, pinning him in place; all while the giant Ogre Bozig used his magical talents to heal Glynnden’s grievous wounds. Alderys reached down with his gold-scaled claw, removed the assassin’s hood, and looked the demon deep in it’s blood-red eyes. For the first time in a very long time a cold shiver ran down the Diablos’ spine.
